Novatek, Gazprom Neft to start Severo-Vrangelevsky exploration ‘20

VLADIVOSTOK, Sep 5 (PRIME) -- Russian gas producer Novatek and oil branch of Gazprom Gazprom Neft will start exploratory drilling on the Severo-Vrangelevsky field in 2020, CEO of Novatek Leonid Mikhelson told reporters on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum on Thursday.

“We are trying to choose places with a high probability of finding gas,” Mikhelson said. “What Gazprom Neft said about the land plot, we’ve agreed on joint geological exploration works there… We need to drill a couple of wells, do additional 3d seismic.”

Mikhelson said in April that Novatek is interested in joint projects with Gazprom Neft on the shelf and will not hold the controlling stake.
